preventive, NOT preventative
preventativeというのは間違った単語だと、
つい最近、相方の指摘により知った。
（ちなみに予防、という意味です。）
preventiveという言葉はあるけど、
preventativeという言葉はない、と。
よく聞くから、つまり間違って使ってる人が多いってことやんね。
気になったから辞書を引いてみたら：
Preventative, n.That which prevents -- incorrectly used instead of preventive.やって。

間違った言葉やけど、よく使われるから、辞書にも載ってるってことかなぁ〜？
他の辞書を引いてみると、
preventativeってかかれてた。

preventiveのバリエーションって。
やっぱり余りにも多くの人が犯す間違いで、
一般的にも浸透してしまってるから、
辞書にはバリエーションの一つとして記載されてるんかな？
じゃあもう正しくは間違った単語ではないってことなんやろか…？
英語圏での生活ももうすぐ１０年になり、
それでもやっぱり英語に苦労させられることはまだまだいっぱいある。
そして日本語から遠ざかって１０年にもなると
日本語の読み書きだけでなく、話す方も結構怪しくなってくる。
あ〜ん、どっちも中途半端で悲しい。
でもどっちの言葉も正しく話す努力はしないとね。
