吐き出したいだけなんで心配はいりません。

Excuse my language, but I can't believe I just wasted the entire day on this thing that I've been try to figure out.

I got this COBOL program that I don't know how to read, so I thought... hmmm.... there's got to be a translator of some kind out there.

So I started looking online. I found few open source software that supposedly translates COBOL to C or C++ code.

So I started installing bunch of those.To get them to build, I would need to have GCC, so I got cygwin with GCC.Then, when I build it. (This was cobol2cpp thing.) OK, things seem to be going well.

Now, I try to translate it. In the console, it says it's preprocessing line XX up until it reaches the line 400 something.The file (which is only one of five COBOL files I have on hand) has at least 2000 lines.Then the processor utilization is up to 99%, and nothing seems to be happening. Well, the proc is working at its full potential, but the console shows nothing.

After about 1 hour, I gave up.

I started working on this other thing. Open-cobol. When I tried to build it, I got error saying "libdb is required". Which apparently means Berkley DB or something. So I went out and got it.Then I built that.

Now, I go back to Open-Cobol and trying to configure it. It still fails.

Is this PATH problem???

SO I put this DB thing in the PATH. It still fails. WHAT DA....

Now, I'm left with nothing, and I just wasted my entire day on this stupid thing that I couldn't get it to work...

What a waste of day.

Now I'm even more behind than what I started out with.
